Job description
- To undertake allocated projects, tasks and functions appropriate to Traffic and Highway Services from start to completion to meet the targets and quality standards required by the Council. This includes traffic / transport / parking related schemes such as traffic calming, school streets, cycle improvements local safety etc.
- To undertake informal and statutory consultations including preparation of schedules.
- To prepare Cabinet Member report and seek approval including publications and Call-In
- To carry out technical tasks relating to the activities of the Future Merton team including updating computerised registers, record keeping, filing, relaying of messages and distribution of documents.
- To contribute to the development, implementation and monitoring of service policies, procedures and practices.
- To provide straightforward technical information as required to other officers of the Department, other Departments, external organisations, Councillors and members of the public.
- To offer detailed advice to the public on the provision of services; carry out technical duties and responding to public complaints and emergencies
- To provide input into Departmental and Corporate initiatives and projects where traffic and highways expertise and professional knowledge is required.
- To represent the Council at meeting with other authorities and organisations.
- To carry out all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Council's practices on Customer Care and Equal Opportunities.
- To ensure that corporate and departmental Health and Safety Policies are implemented at all times and to raise concerns regarding their operation or any other health and safety related matters with the appropriate line manager.
- To prepare stat packs for contractors.
- To provide technical support to the Commissioning team more specifically the Commissioning manger
- To assist team members and resolve enquiries on the advice of senior officers.
- To raise and issue works orders as required using appropriate systems.
- To assist with the production of communications and publicity material for Future Merton services, including intranet/internet.
- Respond to enquiries such as member enquiries, FOIs and consultations relevant to the team.
- To carry out other duties appropriate to the grading of the post.
- To have a detailed working knowledge of the relevant legislation and technical processes in relation to Future Merton services and offer advice to members of the public and council officers in response to enquiries.
