Job Opportunity
Working as part of an established manufacturing team, this trainee role is deemed semi-skilled and will undertake a variety of activities focused on full assembly/build of aircraft components. However, the long-term aim is to develop this role in a skilled position through on the job training where you will have the opportunity to undertake NVQ Level 2 educational training, with a view to further development to complete an NVQ Level 3.
This role will be working an early shift of 06:00-14:15, Monday to Friday, and is offering a competitive salary of £24,998.80, increasing to £25,748.77 once training has been provided and approvals gained. Further pay progression is available once NVQ Level 3 qualification is gained and can be deemed as a Skilled Operator. Overtime will be paid at x1.5 (Mon-Sat) and x2 (Sunday).
Role Specific Duties
Working as part of the A350 assembly or composite value streams, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality composite and metallic components for a variety of aircraft. This trainee role is semi-skilled and will undertake a variety of activities focused on full assembly/build of aircraft components.
Using the appropriate tools and techniques, our assembly team trainees carry out high quality, close-tolerance hand fitting processes as well as assembly, painting and sealing aircraft parts.
Composites team trainees will rotate within the composites value stream to become multi-skilled within:
- Laminating - Manufacturing various components using a variety of composite, glass and honeycomb core materials
- Ovens & Autoclaves - Preparing and loading composite components through a mixture of autoclave and ovens
- CNC Machining - Controlling a mix of automated and semi-automated NC machines and loading systems
Candidate Requirements
- Good numeracy and literacy - Minimum 2 GCSEs at grade 4/C or equivalent in English and Maths
- Good IT skills
- Good attention to detail, planning and problem-solving skills
- Strong work ethic supported by a real positive attitude to succeed
- Excellent communication skills
- Demonstrate the currency and competency of the key skill codes required within department
- Shift working required (salary uplift payable on specific shifts)
- There are certain aspects of this role that require mechanical / manual lifting of parts so some lifting will be required and you must be capable of undertaking activities with appropriate assistance if required.
