We manufacture composite wing spars and Fixed Trailing Edge assemblies for the A350XWB and A400M aircraft. We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer, specialising in Tooling for the manufacture of composite parts.

The Opportunity
In this role, you will join a team of 7 Tooling Engineers who develop, maintain and control the deployed tooling suite and who provide a trouble-shooting service in support of our manufacturing processes.
In this role, you will be responsible for tool design, manufacturing and commissioning in the introduction of engineering changes and improvements to a suite of tooling that contains mould tools, mandrels, machining fixtures and major assembly jigs.


How You'll Contrinute
In this role, you will:
o Be responsible for the implementation of tooling, from original concept through to production.
o Design tooling for a high degree of process capability utilizing the standard Zero Defect Manufacturing (ZDM) tool suite to demonstrate as such.
o To be fully conversant with Catia V5 system and be able to interrogate data from customers and suppliers
o Maintains the tooling BOM and configuration of the tooling suite
o Responsible for the creation of tool user guides, commissioning and handover to the operations team.
o Applies the relevant health and safety regulations
o Provide estimates for tooling options and tooling quote ratification
o Ensure metrology plans are in place for new and current product introduction.

Essential

  • Technical expertise in Tool Engineering, with a qualification / background (HNC and above) and/or approximately 3 to 5 years' experience in engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical); ideally, this will include tools such as mould tools, mandrels, machining fixtures and major assembly jigs.
  • Experience being a technical representative, representing the business at a customer / supplier meetings

Desirable
* Working knowledge of CATIA
* Experience within an aerospace arena
In addition, you will have:
* Good communication skills and an understanding of why they are important
* Experience in identifying opportunities to improve performance
* Experience in the logical analysis and solving of problems
