Job description
I am working with a local water authority covering Newark, Lincoln and the areas in between who are looking for an Ecologist. This organisation has had great success in conserving water voles and barn owls across Lincolnshire and the Trent Valley. Thus are looking for a driven, enthusiastic individual to join and build on this work, supporting the Boards to embed environmental improvement within their capital and maintenance programmes.
You will work closely with the operational and engineering teams to identify, develop and achieve outcomes that reduce flood risk, enhance water level management and ensure that the environmental aims of the Boards are delivered and benefit biodiversity.
This will require some travel to survey sites across the area (no more cross country trips as you will be confined to the region of Doncaster to Newark then across to Lincoln boundary) and home working.
Duties also include affecting government Policy - to assess the impact on the Board's operational activity and help formulate internal policy to meet needs and achievement of environmental high level targets.
You will also undertake Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), produce reports as required, and future changes as The Levelling Up and Regeneration Bill is implemented, ensure all EIA Notices are served/published and maintain records of all activities and decisions reached. Undertake consultation with environmental stakeholders and advise the design process to effect enhancement of habitats. Develop mitigation works and strategies where requested and necessary.
Plus be involved in routine Asset Maintenance - developing standard methods of operations (SMOs), protection of species, development and restoration of habitats, monitoring annual performance of operational activity and provide support and advice as requested. Also, assisting with advice on delivery of maintenance and asset improvement works.
