As a Senior Mechanical Engineer you will be at the forefront of new product engineering design and development. Utilising your mechanical / electromechanical engineering experience, you will use your 3D CAD design experience to contribute to the innovation and quality of new products within the Data and Power business.

From small soldier worn systems to large heavy vehicle power distribution systems you will deliver the technical development from the bid phase through to production.


  • Support technical solutions during bid and development phases of projects.
  • Providing engineering expertise and technical advice to programmes across the business.
  • Serve as a technical expert, possessing a broad and comprehensive understanding of mechanical design engineering of electronic enclosures, contributing to the standards and specifications around which others will operate and leading the incorporation of new techniques and emerging technologies into existing standards and specifications.
  • Supports engineering packages of work within engineering for bids and works with other disciplines to identify dependencies and ensures the deliverability of own work packages.

Experience needed:

  • Relevant qualifications to an appropriate level, typically a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Possess a high level of knowledge and understanding of Mechanical engineering fundamentals, processes, and standards. Is competent at Design for Manufacture, risk identification, and dependency management. Understands the mechanical aspects of working with designs containing harnesses, PCBs, and mechanical design for EMC.
  • Experienced in managing own work and small project teams, able to prioritise tasks within a complex engineering environment.
  • Understands the need for configuration control, change management, security marking aspects of all types of documentation and drawings.
  • Robust knowledge of project, engineering, and business lifecycles with comprehensive understanding of engineering activities at each stage of the lifecycle.
  • Competent at authoring complex CAD models, drawings and assemblies using one or more of the companies selected CAD tools (PTC Creo or Siemens NX). Competent at analysis and understands FEA and CFD using hand calculations, or the company analysis tools (Ansys).
  • Competent at reading and authoring drawings, all dimensioning, applying linear and geometric tolerances, machine surface finishes to British and International Standards.


  • Experience in the Defence / Aerospace or safety regulated environment would be advantageous

Important: All applicants must be able to obtain Security Clearance *minimum 5 years UK residency*

Working: Hybrid working available, anticipated 3 days onsite depending on project requirements.
