Opportunity
We are looking for a highly organised project manager with robust experience in the engineering/technology sector. Working with teams in Edinburgh and Czech Republic, you will be responsible for managing and tracking progress as we develop and release products to support our mission within the energy sector.
The candidate should have a proven track record of managing technical projects through all stages - from analysis, design, planning and development, through to manufacturing and delivery.
The candidate will be responsible for ensuring that projects are delivered successfully and on time, by keeping track of progress, resource utilisation, costs, risks and timescales.
Reporting to the Head of Operations, the role will interface with a team of specialists in different disciplines (including engineering, data science, control systems), and external suppliers.
The successful candidate will ideally have a degree in a relevant engineering discipline and have at least 3-5 years of experience of managing full lifecycle projects
Key Responsibilities
*Define and author project process documentation and continue to enhance projec administrative frameworks supporting the project management office(PMO).
*Simultaneously manage the delivery of both software, utilising agile management, and hardware delivery, by waterfall management, within the same project.
*Support a transition to agile by authoring process framework, by training team member and by supporting PMO.
*Create project charters and be able to explain the project business case and its relevance to sponsors and stakeholders.
*Create and maintain project plans and schedules showing clear task interdependencies and the critical path.
*Lead and motivate the project team and supply chain to deliver projects on time and budget.
*Ensure that project task milestones and goals are clearly defined for the entire team including the context and impact of individual tasks.
*Accountable for all aspects of delivery including: scope, risks, cost and timeline
*Manage the customer relationship during development and delivery.
*Work closely with suppliers to ensure schedules and key milestones are clearly defined to enable close tracking and monitoring of progress
*Facilitate and encourage open communications across different disciplines.
*Timely and accurate reporting of risks to management to allow effective management decision making.
*Track time spent and project costs against budget for each project.
*Organise testing, commissioning and validation of equipment, quality assurance, environmental, health and safety factors in line with the project charter and plan.
*Manage all project communications to the team and upper management to ensure full alignment across the organisation
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
*Robust project management experience in an engineering/technology-focused environment.
*Experience in dynamic R&D type projects which have vague or changing requirements.
*Experience of supplier/vendor management.
*Experience of managing project supply chain
*Robust organisational skills and multi-tasking, with excellent attention to detail.
*Fluent in the use of Microsoft Project or similar planning software.
*Experience in project financial tracking and budget control.
*Experience of leading geographically remote and culturally diverse teams with the confidence to lead, influence and communicate with others to deliver targets are required.
*Able to think strategically and use knowledge and experience to generate new opportunities and future challenges.
*Knowledge and experience in delivering projects against project management methodologies and tools (e.g. Agile, Waterfall) are highly desirable.
*Experience of working in a dynamic, fast moving start-up type environment would be a benefit.
*PMP / PRINCE II certification would be an advantage.
