Job summary
NATS (National Air Traffic Services) are looking for a UX Designer and a Lead UX Designer (Experience Designer) to join them on a contract basis.
Location: Whiteley (average of 1 day per fortnight on site)

Job description
The roles sit amongst a small team who are creating the first 'seed' of the design function at NATS. We are ideally looking for a generalist who ideally has worked in large corporations and has experience focusing on digital products.
Responsibilities of the UX Designer:
- Work closely with the Experience design Lead, product managers, developers, and stakeholders to understand user needs and design effective solutions
- Develop wireframes, prototypes, and visual designs that effectively communicate design concepts
- Create 3D models, animations, and videos to showcase design concepts and ideas
- Sketch and illustrate ideas to quickly communicate and iterate on design solutions
- Conduct user research and testing to validate design decisions
- Collaborate with development teams to ensure designs are implemented accurately and efficiently
- Maintain design consistency across all touchpoints
- Participate in design reviews and provide feedback on design solutions
- Stay up-to-date with the latest design trends and techniques to ensure our team is always at the forefront of design innovation
Responsibilities of the Experience Designer:
- Be the go-to person for all user experience design decisions within the team
- Define the look and feel of our products and ensure they are consistent across all touchpoints, internal and external to the business
- Manage and grow an internal design team, providing guidance and mentorship
- Build and manage relationships with external design agencies and contractors
- Work closely with product managers, developers, and stakeholders to ensure that design solutions are effective, feasible, and meet the needs of our customers
- Conduct user research and testing to gain insights and inform design decisions
- Develop and maintain design processes and standards that promote efficiency and consistency
- Present design concepts and solutions to stakeholders, explaining the reasoning behind design decisions
- Stay up-to-date with the latest design trends and techniques to ensure our team is always at the forefront of design innovation
What we are looking for in you:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in design, human-computer interaction, or related field
- Proven experience in UX/UIand product/service design, with a strong portfolio that demonstrates experience across a variety of design disciplines
- Experience in user research and testing methodologies
- Expertise in user-centered design principles and methodologies
- Proficiency in design and prototyping tools such as Sketch, Adobe XD, Figma, InVision, and 3D modeling software
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Experience in the aviation industry or a similar complex industry is a plus
