Job description

This pivotal role is an exciting opportunity to provide technical leadership, mentor junior team members, and lead teams and projects.

Responsibilities
As an integral part of our team, you will:

• Provide technical leadership for a range of bridge and civil engineering design and assessment projects
• Review and optimise project solutions, coordinating with multi-disciplinary inputs
• Manage resources and cultivate relationships within and beyond our team
• Supervise commercial aspects, including fee agreement and project budgets
• Foster a culture of technical review, challenge, and continuous improvement
• Develop and maintain client relationships, leading tender and bid processes
• Mentor junior team members, providing guidance and support for their professional development
• Utilise your expertise to lead and mentor teams on tasks such as structural analysis, feasibility studies, tender designs, and detailed designs
• Drive innovative solutions
• Collaborate with our UK engineering teams to ensure efficient and successful project delivery
• Ensure full compliance with health and safety requirements

Requirements and Qualifications:

• Recognised degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, or a related discipline
• Professional qualification and membership with the Institution of Civil Engineers or Institution of Structural Engineers (CEng MICE or MIStructE)
• Excellent analytical and communication skills and techniques to advise and engage clients, project teams and stakeholders
• Demonstrated leadership experience in technical delivery on a variety of projects
• Practical knowledge and experience of bridge design, maintenance, assessment, and implementation
• Understanding of Eurocodes, sector-specific codes and standards (e.g., Network Rail standards, DMRB)
• Excellent report-writing, reviewing, communication, client-handling, and interpersonal skills
• Excellent project management skills and experience related to bridge design and working within multidisciplinary schemes
• Proficient technical design and problem-solving skills
• Excellent knowledge of relevant bridge and structural design software, and design in major materials including RC, Steel, masonry, and timber
• Flexibility to travel for site work and/or client meetings
