Our client, a large Aerospace and Defence supplier is looking for Aircraft Fitter (Mechanical) to join them on a contract basis at their site in Broughton.
- Due to the nature of the role, we are only able to consider sole British nationals and you must be eligible for SC Clearance.
- 6-month initial contract, likely to be extended.
- Competitive market rates, inside IR35.
- Standard shifts, 6:00-14:00 or 14:00-22:00
Summary of Role:
The Aircraft Fitter is required to support the Manufacturing, Modification, Maintenance, Installation and Test of aircraft as per aircraft schedule in accordance with Maintenance Manuals and Technical Drawings to achieve aircraft airworthiness whilst following all processes and procedures set to ensure regulatory compliance. This is to be performed with adherence to all Health and Safety requirements.
The nominated candidate will have experience of working both individually and in a cross functional team environment under time and resource pressures to achieve deadlines and meet objectives.
Main Duties:
- The applicant must be able to show competence and specialised knowledge in aircraft maintenance, modification, and system integration.
- The position requires the ability to respond to AOG operating problems or malfunctions in accordance with the relevant maintenance manuals. Ability to problem solve, trouble shoot and find root cause to prevent schedule impacts.
- The position requires the ability to repair, test, adjust and maintain aircraft functions to ensure function reliability and adherence to the specifications identified by the OEM.
- The position requires the ability to navigate aircraft maintenance manuals, IPCs, EMMs and Structural Repair Manuals to implement inspections and maintenance processes to ensure the optimal performance of the aircraft, its systems, and its functions.
- The position also requires the ability to perform maintenance to an established maintenance program as detailed by the Part M in the form of a work order. Ability to perform pre and post flight aircraft inspections.
- The position requires competence in carrying out major modifications to aircraft, the disassembly/assembly and installation/removal of fabricated parts, sub-assemblies, major components, and auxiliary equipment to satisfactorily complete the alteration and/or modification of any type of aircraft, equipment rack, instrument console etc. Able to demonstrate a high level of hand skills to complete tasks to the required standard.
- The position also requires competence in the pre-fitting and final installation of furnishing/trim items during the alteration and/or modification of any type of aircraft
- The position requires the ability to modify aircraft systems; this involves component removal adjustment, replacement, calibration, modification, and the ability to perform the subsequent operational checks and tests, as stated necessary, to prepare the aircraft for flight
- The applicant must have the required competence to obtain a first signatory PAC approval to sign maintenance and modification paperwork on completion of tasks.
- Certified personnel will, under supervision, be requested to perform engine runs and ensure that the aircraft is flight worthy.
- Has the ability to work, mainly unsupervised, from technical drawings, aircraft manufacturer's manuals, written or verbal instructions and retrieve production data directly from computer systems.
- Demonstrates a knowledge and understanding of BMS, including regulatory expositions, organisational procedures, and specifications in accordance with job requirements.
- Follows Health & Safety practices and contributes to the safe working environment of the Aircraft Modification Centre.
