Job description
Our client is a dynamic and innovative leader in the renewable energy sector. Due to their expanding workload, they are seeking a motivated and experienced Electrical Engineer to join the team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the progression of our offshore wind development projects, ensuring their successful transition from planning to construction.
Role Overview:
As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be an integral part of the Electrical System & Project Engineering team. You will collaborate closely with Project Engineers and Package Managers, playing a key role in various aspects of our projects. From the initial pre-consenting phase through to construction and operation, you will be responsible for ensuring the robust through life design of the project's electrical system, with a focus on the high-voltage (HV) generation and transmission systems up to the connection point with the existing transmission system.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with National Grid to secure suitable grid connections for projects.
- Define the main electrical system design, covering both onshore and offshore HVAC and HVDC systems.
- Develop specifications, clarify technical queries (TQ), and ensure compliance with chosen consultants and contractors.
- Focus on interface matters, including onshore substations and offshore platforms.
- Prioritize safety through design and the ongoing performance of assets.
- Liaise closely with technical experts in the Electrical Components team and fellow Engineers on similar projects, leveraging their knowledge effectively.
Qualifications and Experience:
- University Degree or equivalent in Electrical Power Engineering.
- Chartered Engineer status or active progress towards achieving it.
- Proven experience in project engineering within offshore wind or similar renewable energy sectors.
- Familiarity with the UK grid connection process.
- Knowledge of electrical plant equipment, encompassing large power transformers, switchgear, onshore transmission substations, reactive power compensation solutions, MV/LV auxiliary systems, and cables.
- Understanding of Construction Design and Management Regulations.
- Outstanding communication, coordination, and leadership skills, coupled with high motivation, confidence, and resourcefulness.
