Job description
Our client is a global leader in research and development based in Southampton looking for two scientists to enable technical decision making and review technical resources and capability plus proposing novel approaches as part of a team.
Both scientists must have great expertise in a range of analytical chemistry principles and techniques, quality and problem solving.
You will be accountable for applying technical knowledge as part of R&D project in support of internal and external reporting and project decision making and interpret stakeholder requirements and evaluate implementation.
It is essential that any applicant has a thorough knowledge and hands on experience and applications of best practices and validation for meadurements of chemical constituents of food, environment and/or consumer product.
Also validation of complex analytical instrumentation including GC-MS, LC-MS and LC-MS/MS with associated high level problem solving skills.
The applicant MUST have skilled use and understanding of preparative and instrumental techniques applicable to the isolation and measurement of trace-level compounds in complex matrices.
Knowledge and interest in relevant aspects of emerging analytical science techniques, good planning skills and proficient at writing technical reports and presentations.
There are two levels of scientist required and to get the £20 an hour grade you must be able to show experience of coaching and appropriate leadership.
It is essential that you must live in or around Southampton in the UK. There will be no response to applicants who do not currently live in the UK and who do not hold a current VISA that is valid for a minimum of 2 years. There is no relocation offered for this post and anyone wishing to relocate to Southampton would need to do so quickly and at their own expense as the role will be 5 days a week on site.
It is required that the successful applicant has a Bsc (or equivalent) in Chemistry and/or an Msc/MPhil/PhD with additional relevant industry experience.
Complex Instrumental Techniques are required; LC-MS, LC-UV, GC-FID, GC-MS, TGA or FTIR)
It would be expected that any applicant to this Scientist role in Southampton would have a broad experience in sample preparation and extraction techniques.
