Responsibilities:

  • Support the engineering department, providing technical support in the field of radiation detector physics and radiometrics.
  • Technically support delivery of both internal and customer funded projects & products.
  • Directly support resolution of project technical issues within Engineering.
  • Work closely with project management and engineering teams to meet projects' technical requirements.
  • Review and verification of technical reports, drawings and designs for safety, functionality and regulatory compliance.
  • Support customer technical engagement, via sales/business development functions.
  • To carry out all work ethically, safely and in accordance with the relevant standards and best practice within the nuclear industry.
  • Any other relevant duties as and when required.

PhD in a relevant field, such as one of the following:

  • Nuclear/Reactor Physics
  • Nuclear Instrumentation
  • Nuclear engineering
  • Radiation Metrology
  • Medical Physics
  • Radiometry
  • Particle Physics
  • Ultra High Vacuum

General skills/qualifications:

  • A higher level Physics/Applied Mathematics degree (Masters or equivalent level of experience in a scientific role).
  • Good level of analytic and diagnostic skills.
  • High level of computer literacy (Microsoft Office incl. Excel & data analysis).
  • Good presentation, oral and written communication skills.
  • Able to make technically informed and balanced judgements.

Essential Functions:

  • Flexibility for occasional travel within the UK and international
  • Ability to obtain security clearance up to SC level at a minimum.
