Job description
Position: Operations Manager
Location: Southampton
Hours: 5 days per week. 8:30am - 5pm
Salary: £45,000
Our client stocks and processes Tube, Pipe, Bar, Extrusions, Sheet and Plate in stainless, aluminium, nickel, titanium and carbon alloy. Over 30 stocking locations in North America, Europe, and Asia provide outstanding service to satisfied customers worldwide.
Job Purpose
Manages and directs the Operations personnel and activities (including Warehouse, Logistic, Production/Stock Control, Customs) with responsibility for driving efficiency, quality and continuous improvement across all aspects of our operation. Day to day management of processes, personnel and service is key to ensures productivity targets and customers satisfaction are achieved.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Leadership.
- Oversee all aspects of the operation, especially warehouse and logistic activities.
- Develop and implement operational strategies to enhance efficiency, productivity and customer satisfaction.
- Lead and mentor a diverse team of professionals to ensure seamless coordination and collaboration.
- Ensures headcount in the function is appropriate and relevant to meet current and future business needs and is aligned to the business strategy.
- Ensures the resource is planned and positioned in each area as appropriate, including the management of process flows.
- Lead process improvement initiatives using Six Sigma and 5s principles to eliminate inefficiencies, reduce errors, improve quality and enhance overall operations.
- Ensures the physical requirements and condition of the Warehouse and equipment is outstanding.
- Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules and expedites workflow.
- Enforces policies and procedures as appropriate to ensure a proficient, safe and effective operation.
- Manages ACE metrics through analysis, responds and reacts to the root causes and ensures corrective actions are identified and addressed.
- Manages any non-conformities with Quality by identifying issues and ensuring compliance is adhered to in the future.
- Ensures training and development is identified and fulfilled through appropriate people development programs.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in manufacturing and operations management within the Aerospace or similar industry.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Experience in Quality management initiatives such as Lean, Six Sigma, 5s.
- Strong organisation and planning skills.
- Experience in bonded warehouse management
