Job description
Yoy will supervise our client's busy welding and fabrication facility, utilising expertise with materials and processes to continue developing the skill set of the team by leading from the front and demonstrating where required.
Run the training school to a high standard and ensure all trainees receive exceptional training, with timely certification. Develop relationships with clients to contribute to the growth plans for the business.
Role and Responsibilities:
Ensure all teams working on welding and fabrication projects, regardless of location, are operating safely and to a high standard.
Ability to demonstrate and train the team to weld all materials and processes in particular titanium and aluminium.
Complete site meetings to agree scope of works and 'best practice' for working on site.
Contribute to design and installation of all projects.
Build relationships with clients to ensure our client is the go-to specialist for continued welding and fabrication needs.
Motivate the team towards collective goals.
Ability to read and interpret Engineering and fabrication drawings.
Design and implement team training programmes.
Effective management of resource including holidays
Develop team members to allow for career progression within team.
Effective decision-making considering impact on overall business, project, and team members.
Welding and fabrication as required in workshop and site.
Extensive knowledge of oil and gas/marine and structural welding/fabrication works and standards.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Team management and supervision
Time served welder/fabricator.
Knowledge of pipefitting a plus
Ability to weld in all processes and materials and able to demonstrate and take the lead
Quality assurance
Knowledge of NDE processes and supporting documentation
Expert knowledge of welding standards
Training and coaching of team.
IT Skills including excel and word.
Reporting
Planning and scheduling
Act with honesty, integrity, and accountability
Ability to work well in a team
Qualifications and Experience Requirements:
At least 10 years of experience as a welder/fabricator and 5 years of experience in training and supervision. An NC/HNC in welding/fabrication and CSWIP qualified.
Extensive experience working with many materials including:
* Titanium
* Super Duplex
* Duplex
* Aluminium
* Inconel
* Austenitic stainless steel
* Mild steel
Expert practical knowledge of welding and fabrication including:
* Manual Metal Arc (MMA)
* Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG)
* Metal Active/Metal Inert Gas (MAG/MIG)
* Gas shielded Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW)
* Oxy-Acetylene cutting/welding.
* Machine/workshop power tools and machinery.
Physical Demands:
This role is physically demanding as you will be involved in heavy Fabrication and welding projects. Much of the site work requires a high level of fitness often going up and down stairs. You may be required to work in every kind of weather on site and offshore. We will also require confined space and working at height training for this role.
Work Environment:
Onshore workshop, site welding/fabrication and offshore, vessel mobilisations and demobilisations when required. Travelling abroad may be necessary.
Standard working hours - 39 per week
Salary starting from - £46,644 as a minimum
