Job description
Our utilities infrastructure and engineering contractor client is seeking a Planning Manager to support their Severn Trent Water framework out of Birmingham with hybrid/flexible working discussed.
They design, build and maintain the UK's utilities infrastructure, helping to transform local communities for the better. Thery currently work in partnership with several Water, Power and Energy clients across the UK.
The function of this role is to ensure all works programmes are developed in accordance with the contract to meet the delivery timescales whilst adhering to the PMO guidance and planning best practices.
You will lead a team to deliver a performance that achieves targets and objectives. You will coach and provide support to the planning and scheduling team, and constructively manage individual performances. You will work very closely with the Client and operational colleagues to drive efficient delivery programme.
Responsibilities
- Lead the overall integrated P6 programme meeting the contract reporting timelines for the programme of works.
- Develop and produce fully logic linked, resource loaded and integrated programmes comprising the development, consents, design, procurement, construction and commission compliant with the PMO standards.
- Produce programmes, reports and / or extract schedules using customised filters as required by the project team, including indication of deviation from the baseline programme.
- Produce earned value analysis data.
- Formally issue programme updates to the client as required by the contract.
- Attend progress meetings with internal and external customers and deliver presentation on project progress.
- Engage with supply chain and bid team members to discuss and achieve optimum programme and method solutions.
- Identify, communicate and add key programme risks to the risk register.
- Perform analysis and scenario modelling for any potential project change and be able to provide resource and delay analysis.
- Promote and improve planning and controls within the organisation.
- Perform continuous project integrity checks to ensure the integrity of the programme.
- Carry out regular team briefs and 1-2-1's
- Support Senior Planning Manager with any adhoc requests
Skill/qualifications/experience
- A degree or HND in Civil Engineering or other engineering degree ideally
- HND, Degree or higher qualification
- NEC4 knowledge ideal
- Professional membership
- Good understanding of the Bid/Tender process, with the ability to interpret 'Instruction to Tender' (ITT) documents highlighting the programme requirements.
- Advanced use of the Microsoft Office suite (in particular excel) and advanced knowledge of Primavera P6 planning tool along with other planning software's including Microsoft Project or other system/ tool defined by the project or client.
- Highly organised with an excellent attention to detail and meticulous approach.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal/written) and be able to manage stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience working in construction for a Contractor - minimum 7 years' experience.
- Experience managing programmes for the complete project life cycle from concept phase, pre contract, mobilisation, design and build, commissioning to completion and benefit realisation.
- Good all round project management knowledge.
- Experience of design delivery functions and design deliverable metrics.
