Job description
Our client, a Defence supplier, is looking for a Health, Safety and Environmental Officer to join them on a 6 month contract at their site in Merthyr Tydfil.
- Due to the nature of the role, applicants must be eligible for SC Clearance and hold the British nationality.
- Fully onsite in Merthyr Tydfil.
- Inside IR35, current market rates.
- 6 month contact.
General Duties:
- Risk Assessment: To ensure adequate risk assessments are completed and reviewed on a regular basis to include: baselines, work activities, Noise, individuals. To develop and implement Remedial Action Plans as required. Conduct site visits for vehicle trials activities as required. This will include risk assessment for trials that are carried out at various UK and European sites.
- Workplace Assessment: to undertake manage and maintain workplace assessments such as development of SSOW and machinery assessments as required by the site and programme.
- Inductions: To conduct (if required) SHE inductions for new starters
- Legal Review: Carry our regular reviews of SHE legislation against site and specific practices and procedures to include identification and review of aspects.
- Environmental Management: To manage business environmental aspects and ensure compliance with legislation. This will require close working with Facilities dept
- Accident investigation: Carry out investigations and issue and implement Remedial action plans as required. Including the management of incident registers and provision regular metrics to support SHE culture
- Advice: Provide general advice to employees on work related health and safety.
- Review: to assist in the review of components, new suppliers and contractors on health and safety issues.
- Process improvement: To identify and implement process improvement where relevant
- DSE Assessment: Conduct DSE assessment as required and assist HRD/Occupational Health/facilities in the provision of safe equipment.
- COSHH: Company's COSHH management system, including COSHH assessments.
