Who we are seeking
All Carpenters will gain experience across numerous boat lines, completing bespoke carpentry work packages within small teams throughout luxury cabins, modern kitchens and spacious bathrooms whilst working with a wide variety of materials and high-quality wood finishes. With unrivalled levels of customer variation across every product, a Sunseeker Carpenter will get to experience it all.
As a Skilled Carpenter, you will likely have previous, relevant experience in a carpentry and joinery background, specifically in kitchens, bedrooms and bathroom fittings, or perhaps in bench joinery. You'll be comfortable working independently to achieve a high-quality end result, meaning it is likely that you'll be allocated to our 'Fit Out' teams - where our products are given their final luxury touches.
As a Semi-Skilled Carpenter, you may be less confident working alone or may still require a small degree of guidance. Suitable candidates will likely have experience in construction or completing first fit work packages. You'll most likely be allocated a role within our 'First Stage' teams, where our bulkheads and larger carpentry packages start to take shape.
As a carpenter you will be involved in spraying panels, using CNC machinery, joinery and putting furniture panels together. You will work with several different materials such as plywood, softwood, vinyl, leather and soft furnishing materials.
Carpentry Power tools will be provided but you will need access to your own hand tools such as screwdriver set, tape measure, levels etc.
You'll be based at Sunseeker Osprey Quay, Portland
Our ideal candidate
- Is easily able to read and understand scaled drawings (1:10s)
- Drives to achieve a high standard of work when given tight tolerances and high value products.
- Seeks to pursue perfection, with a coachable and engaged attitude.
- Ideally you will have experience in scribing.
Our working patterns
- Day Shift | Monday-Friday, 07:00-15:30
- Night Shift | Monday-Thursday, 18:00-04:30
- Weekend overtime is widely available.
- £13.20p/h PAYE (Semi-Skilled)
- £14.50-£15.50p/h PAYE (Skilled)
- £17.60p/h - £20.67p/h PAYE - Nights
Overtime is widely available and paid at an increase pay rate if over the basic 40 hour working week of x1.5 Monday - Saturday or x2 for Sundays and bank holidays.
You will also be entitled to 30-day holiday (inclusive of bank holidays)
Sunseeker have 2 shipyard shut downs, one in August and the other over Christmas.
