Job description
Job Overview:
Reporting to the Principal Traffic Engineer, this role involves overseeing the efficient implementation of specific engineering projects, functions, or designated work areas. The primary focus is on aligning activities with specific contracts/agreements and adhering to relevant statutory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial:
- Generate financial estimates and compile statistics for designated projects, work areas, or payment claims.
- Track progress and manage expenditures for assigned projects or work areas.
- Operate within allocated financial limits and comply with budgetary arrangements, ensuring adherence to established systems for recording staff time allocation, income, expenditure, and associated financial transactions.
Professional:
- Support in the preparation of Conditions of Contract, Specification, Bills of Quantities, Schedules of Rates, and other tender documents related to contracts or agreements with clients.
- Take daily responsibility for the efficient execution of personal work and that of any junior staff or subcontractors under supervision. This includes maintaining professional standards and meeting deadlines.
- Perform diverse engineering tasks as needed, such as reviewing and interpreting reports and surveys, designing engineering schemes of varying complexity, creating drawings, conducting and analyzing local consultations, determining methods and materials, reviewing sub-contractor tenders/quotations, and providing recommendations for acceptance.
- Ensure compliance with specifications, performance standards, quality targets, budget constraints, and other statutory requirements during contract/agreement execution.
Managerial:
- Supervise junior staff and offer on-the-job training when necessary.
- Address correspondence, queries, and complaints in accordance with established procedures.
- Prepare and deliver reports related to personal work responsibilities.
- Attend meetings with the general public and respond to questions as required.
