Job description

Join a renowned engineering company and play a pivotal role in a major highways improvement project. We are seeking an experienced Senior Planner with a strong background in highways projects to contribute to the success of this venture. This is an initial 6-month contract with the potential for extension.
Responsibilities:

• Take ownership of the project's program and Project Controls, ensuring adherence to policies.
• Represent and drive Project Controls Policy, attending and guiding client progress meetings.
• Ensure completion of projects within specified time and cost constraints.
• Supervise and mentor junior team members as needed.
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of commercial and financial aspects of project management.
• Build and maintain relationships with a limited set of common clients, ensuring regular client contact.
• Possess a good understanding of Transportation technologies and markets.
• Provide project performance data, schedules, and reports in a concise and timely manner as required.
• Identify and report any project deviations and slippages, communicating issues to senior team members.
• Highlight and ensure understanding of all program issues by Senior Management, offering appropriate planning advice.
• Deliver Period Programme Updates, communicating changes and delays impacting the program.
• Provide necessary reports for Senior Managers to direct the project appropriately.

Experience Required:

• Excellent understanding of how projects are designed, procured, constructed, and commissioned.
• Expert user of Primavera P6.
• Experience working on highways projects.
• Ability to carry out Project Control duties with limited supervision, working independently in the production of Project Programmes and Tender Programmes.
• Previous experience managing Junior Planners, including task allocation, checking achievements, and providing constructive feedback.
• Familiarity with various forms of contract, including NEC.
