Job description

You will be involved in a refit project of a Minesweeper.

Previous marine experience is required and candidates with shipyard/dockyard experience would be ideal. You must be NVQ level 3/apprenticeship qualified.

Standard working week is 40 hours but with OT approx. 60 hours are available

Initial contract - 6 months

Rates of pay:

First 40 hours
£26/h Umb co - Over 40 miles
£23/h Umb co - Under 40 miles

Overtime after 40 hours
£39.04/h Umb co - Over 40 miles
£34.51/h Umb co - Under 40 miles

Core Competencies required:

Understands the tag out process for systems and equipment
Undertake and maintain husbandry of working areas and the protection of equipment/prepared surfaces
Read and understand layout, assembly and manufacturing drawings and reference material, awareness of required quality standards
Demonstrate the ability to problem solve
Complete and record quality documentation
Machine pipe bending - 8"- 3" NB and below
Machine pipe bending - ½" - 3" NB and below
Pipe bending - 6mm - 54mm
Pipe fabrication 12" and below
Removal and installation of all pipe systems 12" and below
Use clamp couplings (Straub, Teekay)
Use Walform and Swagloc type fittings
Work with a variety of metal and non-metal pipes and fittings
Use general workshop machinery and hand tools
Light plate work
Profile cutting
Laying to boards
Use welding processes MMA,MIG,TIG
Solder and braze
Thread pipes and fittings
Pipe survey and inspection
Pressure testing of pipes and systems
Cutting by Oxy Gas/Plasma Arc/Profile cutter machine
Pipe prepping - type V by machine
Pipe prepping - type V by hand
Basic knowledge of COSHH, Manual Handling and Risk Assessment Regulations
Demonstrates a sound basic knowledge of all health and safety matters relating to their local working environment
Demonstrates an understanding and application of PPE to the working environment
