As a result of new contracts, the engineering team is looking for a motivated Structural/Stress engineer with a background in mechanical simulation and test, with a keen interest in weapon systems.
This role will be based Essex, and the Stress Engineer will report directly to the Program Lead Structural Engineer.
This role is open across all levels starting from junior experience with the opportunity of professional development.
The Stress Engineer will be responsible for:
- Evaluating structural behaviour of complex assemblies including stress, vibration, and structural integrity analysis.
- Undertake assessments using hand calculations and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools (ANSYS / LS-DYNA)
- Support the design development of complex systems through model validation activities.
- Contribute to the Structural Design Record by authoring Structural Memos.
Essential Skills:
- Bachelors' Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Engineering Technology.
- Demonstrable experience in mechanical simulation for complex structures.
- Working knowledge of statics, dynamics, and fatigue analysis of aerospace components ideally with ANSYS Workbench and associated mechanical toolboxes or equivalent.
Desired Skills:
- Experience in the Defence / Aerospace or safety regulated environment would be advantageous.
- Experience in experimental modal analysis and vibration testing.
- Experience in correlating physical test results with simulated predictions.
- Experience using hand calculations and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools (ANSYS / LS-DYNA)
