Job description

The Role

At RAF Coningsby, BAE Systems have the responsibility for unserviceable inventory management.

The purpose of this role is to ensure that on-base AWES assets are fed into the repair bay, in the correct condition for repair, and have been programmed into the repair maintenance schedule; thus allowing the engineers the capacity to complete the repair in the allotted time and to ensure all logistics stores management systems, are updated correctly. Reporting to the RAF Coningsby RMS Team Leader, the Logistics Planner shall:


Engage with Supply Chain personnel to ensure all repair orders are fulfilled. Identify / capture reporting errors for escalation to management for investigation. Ensuring the repairable assets are 'fit to fix' when received in the repair bay. Look for external solutions if repairable assets are not already available. Ensure the correct transportation is organised to transport assets to and from the repair bay.

Role Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be required to perform tasks suitable to the internal level of this role. The role will contain, but will not be limited to, the following:

  • Generating the required paperwork to despatch unserviceable Typhoon assets to the relevant repair bay for overhaul or upgrade.
  • Carrying out the receipt process on returning serviceable assets. - Updating specific databases with export control information to ensure compliance with export control regulations.
  • Packing and preparing hi-value items correctly to ensure there is no damage during transportation.
  • Loading and unloading of delivery vehicles, ensuring safety for both assets and team members.
  • Liaise with all relevant support agencies as required.

Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and experience of using BAE Supply Chain databases.
  • Understanding of RAF Supply Chain Practises.
  • Experience in the Repair Routing and Transportion, and Export Control processes.
  • Communication skills to build relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Able to multi task and laterally for innovative solutions.
  • Ability to prioritise and mange workload effectively.
  • A core understanding of BAE Systems Supply Chain databases.
  • Ideally have knowledge of the RAF Supply Chain Processes.
  • Strong communicator to build strong relationships with key stakeholders to enable the swift turnaround of Typhoon repairable assets.

Security Requirements: SC

This role will require the person to hold full Security Clearance (SC) prior to working onsite. You will need to obtain a BPSS check as part of this process. You must currently hold or be eligible and willing to obtain SC. In addition, this role involves direct and/or indirect access to ITAR Material which means there are restrictions on dual nationals. The Umbrella rate quoted above is the Gross Umbrella rate (i.e. the rate we pay to the Umbrella Company inclusive of ALL employment costs). Please note, the rate paid by the Umbrella will be less, as will a Limited Deemed rate or Agency PAYE rate. Please get in touch to discuss the rates via these different payment vehicles.
