Job description
Job Title: Finance Analyst
Location: London
Salary: £400/day
Working Hours: 36 hours per week
Job Purpose:
As a Finance Analyst, you will play a crucial role in providing financial support to various departments and schools within the organization. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of financial functions, including annual budgeting, monthly monitoring, statutory reporting, tax and VAT compliance, Exchequer management, controls implementation, and overall support for council functions. Additionally, you will act as a deputy for the Senior Finance Analyst.
Key Responsibilities:

Financial Support: Provide comprehensive financial support to departments and schools, ensuring effective management of budgets, monitoring of expenditures, and adherence to statutory reporting requirements.

Deputise for Senior Finance Analyst: Assume responsibilities in the absence of the Senior Finance Analyst, making informed decisions and managing financial tasks efficiently.

Professional Advice: Offer high-level professional advice on a broad spectrum of financial issues to officers, with a focus on banking and pre-paid card systems administration.

Capital Expenditure and Income Monitoring: Play a significant role in monitoring and controlling the council's capital expenditure and income, contributing to the preparation of statutory annual accounts.

Oracle System and Reconciliations: Take responsibility for a wide range of Oracle System and business operational reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial regulations.

New Council Homes Programme: Support financial appraisal modeling for the New Council Homes Programme, emphasizing experience in local government, particularly in the Housing General Fund and HRA.

Temporary Accommodation Workstream: Contribute to financial aspects of the Temporary Accommodation Workstream, demonstrating expertise in both Housing General Fund and HRA within local government.

Financial Year-End Support: Assist during the financial year-end, utilizing experience in capital year-end procedures.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A recognized qualification in finance or accounting.
- Proven experience in a similar role, preferably within local government.
- Strong understanding of financial systems, including Oracle.
- Familiarity with capital expenditure, income monitoring, and statutory reporting.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
