Job description

Senior Linux Systems Engineer

You will be working for a leading infrastructure company embarking on an exciting re-platforming journey . As we transition to automated RHEL 8 builds and a Kubernetes containerized system, we are seeking an experienced Linux Subject Matter Expert (SME) to play a key role in delivering critical phases of this project.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Automated Build and Application Install:
• Oversee the automated build and application installation process for approximately 500 RHEL VMs.
• Demonstrate expert knowledge in producing, operating, and modifying Packer builds, Ansible Playbooks, and Gitlab configurations.
• Extensive experience in migrating from RHEL 6 and RHEL 7 to RHEL 8.
2. Ansible Environment Administration:
• Set up and administer Ansible Tower/AWX and Ansible Automation Platform.
• Implement ansible environment architectures, including integration with third-party applications such as Secret Server and Artifactory.
• Manage Ansible Tower integration with GitLab for running CICD pipelines.
• Establish log aggregation solutions.
3. Awareness of AAP Automation Mesh:
• Stay informed and contribute to the deployment and utilization of the Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) Automation Mesh.
4. Cluster Deployment and Pipeline Creation:
• Deploy Ansible Automation Platform clusters on RHEL virtual machines.
• Create CICD pipelines for teams using Ansible Tower workflow templates.
• Develop and implement CICD pipelines using Ansible Tower workflow templates to enforce Ansible code development standards.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Proven experience in automated build and deployment of RHEL VMs.
• Expertise in Packer builds, Sensible Playbooks, and Gitlab configurations.
• In-depth knowledge of RHEL 6, RHEL 7, and RHEL 8.
• Proficient in setting up and administering Ansible Tower/AWX and Ansible Automation Platform.
• Familiarity with third-party integrations such as Secret Server and Artifactory.
• Experience in deploying Ansible Automation Platform clusters.
• Strong understanding of CICD pipelines and workflow templates

Day rate : £600 outside IR35

Location: Crawley , Hybrid.

Duration: 6 months initially
