Job description

Must-haves:

• Proficient in supporting Enterprise IT Platforms on-premises.
• Strong hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, including deployment and administration following industry best practices.
• Advanced skills in PostgreSQL Backup & Recovery, disaster recovery, and testing recoverability for ensuring 24*7 system availability.
• Implementation expertise in PostgreSQL High Availability & clustering solutions, Standby databases (hot/cold), binary streaming replication, and cross-site replication.
• In-depth knowledge of PostgreSQL DB performance tuning, identification of bottlenecks, and collaboration with the development community to enhance code (PL/pgSQL procedures, triggers, functions, views).
• Optimization skills in PostgreSQL to identify query execution, explain plans, and enhance system efficiency using available Postgres tools.
• Proficient in PostgreSQL monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, VRops, PgAdmin4, and custom scripts.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills for resolving PostgreSQL-related issues, including corruption and system failures.
• Competent in managing PostgreSQL database security, permissions, user access control (groups & roles), authentication, auditing, and vulnerability.
• Knowledgeable in PostgreSQL networking, connection pooling (PgPool, PgBouncer).
• Experience in PostgreSQL migration strategy, data migration, upgrades, release & version management, fixes, and patching.
• Capacity management, overall reporting, PostgreSQL object storage management, and system resources optimization.
• Ability to identify and automate tasks using scripts.
• Development and maintenance of PostgreSQL documentation, configurations, procedures, checklists, and highlighting deviations.
• Exposure to Red Hat 6-8 or other Linux distributions.
• Proficiency in scripting languages like Bash, CLI, Terraform, etc.

Might-haves:

• Good experience with VMware vSphere.
• Familiarity with Gitlab, Github, Ansible, Terraform, or other automation and configuration tooling.
• Knowledge of Oracle OEM tool.
• Understanding of Oracle E-business Suite 12.2 Database and applications.

Day rate : £600 outside IR35

Location: Crawley , Hybrid.

Duration: 6 months initially
