Job description
Our client, based near Fareham, currently have an exciting opportunity for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join their business which will require a combination of electrical and mechanical skills as well as troubleshooting.
The Engineer will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a wide range of machinery and equipment used across their manufacturing processes minimising downtime, improving efficiency, and ensuring the safety of their operations.
Main duties of the role will include, but are not limited to:
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks on machinery and equipment according to established schedules to prevent breakdowns and optimize performance.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, diagnose faults, and carry out repairs to minimize production downtime.
- Conduct routine inspections of machinery and equipment to identify potential issues and address them proactively.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical systems, including Presses, motors, pumps, conveyors, and pneumatic systems.
- Read drawings and utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and resolve problems with PLCs, HMIs, sensors, and other control systems.
- Collaborate with production teams to understand equipment performance issues and implement solutions to improve reliability and efficiency.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment history, and spare parts inventory.
- Participate in the installation, commissioning, and testing of new machinery and equipment, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and equipment upgrades to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations, including lockout/tagout procedures, to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
Suitable candidates will have proven professional experience within a maintenance role with a background in both Electrical and Mechanical disciplines. A Technical qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is also required. It is also specified that the chosen candidate hold certification to 18th Edition although 17th Edition will also be considered.
A strong knowledge of industrial equipment, including hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, and control systems is required as well as proficiency in troubleshooting and diagnosing faults, reading drawings, and using diagnostic tools and equipment. A willingness to work flexible hours and participate in an on-call rotation for emergency repairs or during projects if required has also been requested.
Hours:
7am - 3.30pm (Monday to Thursday)
7am - 12.30pm (Friday)
Remuneration package includes:
- Basic salary up to £45,000 per annum (depending on experience)
- 35 days holiday per annum (including bank holidays)
