Job description
Join our team as an R&D Workshop Manager, a permanent role with a leading company in GreenTech innovation. You'll collaborate closely with our engineering team, overseeing prototype system builds, managing workshop processes, and leading a team of technicians.
Your responsibilities will include managing a team of technicians, facilitating workshop builds of R&D projects, and handling deskbound operational tasks such as Health and Safety reports and equipment procurement. The ideal candidate will possess a background in electromechanical systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead technicians to achieve engineering, project, and company targets.
Provide engineering feedback during builds and identify improvement opportunities.
Support the engineering team with builds, leveraging your experience to make informed component purchases.
Motivate, lead, and inspire the team in continuous improvement.
Follow detailed working instructions within the build manual, testing processes, and optimizing where possible.
Manage and plan workshop resources to ensure work requirements are met.
Maintain workshop stock and keep workshop processes up to date.
Monitor performance consistently and be responsible for workshop quality.
Supervise health and safety compliance across the workshop.
Use measuring equipment, including torque wrenches, vernier callipers, and micrometres.
Job Requirements:
Excellent demonstrable 'hands-on' skills in an R&D environment.
Experience managing teams and the ability to lead and train a small team.
HNC / HND or equivalent working experience.
Experience in automotive/transport/motorsport/or similar industry, adhering to industry standards, safety processes, and certification.
Ability to interpret engineering information in multiple formats.
Desirable experience:
F-gas certification or prior experience with refrigeration systems (preferred).
Proactive approach to issue resolution and problem-solving with robust engineering solutions.
Understanding of electrical build and assembly processes.
Experience in low voltage wiring and a high-level understanding of electronics and battery technology.
