Introduction

Our client, a leading company in the Defence & Security sector, is seeking a Senior Engineer - Auxiliaries to join their team on a 12-month contract basis. As a Senior Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing and developing piping systems for their Naval Ships. While prior experience in the Marine/Naval industry is desirable, candidates with significant experience in working with piping systems from any industry will also be considered.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop piping systems for Naval Ships, ensuring compliance with industry standards and guidelines
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify requirements, resolve technical issues, and ensure project delivery within specified timelines
  • Utilize software tools including FluidFlow, FORAN, and AutoCAD to support the design process
  • Conduct analyses and simulations to assess the performance and integrity of the piping systems
  • Participate in design reviews and provide technical guidance to junior engineers
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering processes and practices

Job Requirements

  • Significant experience in designing and working with piping systems, preferably within the Marine/Naval industry
  • Proficiency in software tools such as FluidFlow, FORAN, and AutoCAD
  • Strong understanding of industry standards and regulations related to piping systems
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct simulations and analyses
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • BPSS-level security clearance or willingness to undergo the clearance process

Location and Duration

This role will be based at our client's site in Scotstoun, and there is also a possibility to work from Portsmouth or Filton for highly experienced candidates. Hybrid arrangements are available, with very experienced candidates requiring one day per month on-site, while others may be required on-site more frequently. The contract duration is 12 months.
