Job description
This pivotal role focuses on leading the SHE strategy, ensuring the safety and sustainability of large-scale construction projects and redevelopment efforts aimed at achieving significant environmental and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Championing sustainability initiatives, particularly contributing towards achieving Net Carbon Zero by 2030.
- Managing SHE aspects of all site construction and renovation projects, ensuring health and safety compliance during all phases from procurement to performance.
- Delivering key SHE management information and improving project outcomes in collaboration with the Principal Contractor and client.
- Engaging with senior stakeholders, shaping the site master plan and aligning it with robust SHE objectives.
- Making informed decisions autonomously, identifying issues and escalating them appropriately to ensure project safety and compliance.
- Leading both contingent and core teams, ensuring SHE compliance is prioritised by all stakeholders.
- Influencing safety recommendations and strategic decisions that impact the overall budget and safety measures of the Site Redevelopment Project.
Your Skills and Experiences:
- Senior leadership experience within major construction projects either as a principal contractor or client-side leader.
- Proven track record in achieving results in complex, large-scale construction environments.
- Comprehensive understanding of best practices in major construction projects, with the ability to influence and articulate crucial points to internal and external stakeholders.
- Expertise in integrating SHE strategies and operations with overarching organisational objectives.
- Experience addressing environmental impacts within major infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency with CDM principles and their practical applications.
- A minimum Level 5 NQF qualification in a SHE related field, ideally supplemented by professional certifications such as CMIOSH or IEMA.
