Job description
Our client, an innovative player in the manufacturing and engineering sector, is currently seeking a Design Engineer to join their dynamic Drawing Office team. This role is perfect for professionals passionate about driving engineering standards and efficiency in design within a production environment focused on light and heavy metal fabrications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and development of 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings tailored to customer specifications.
- Production and maintenance of detailed Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Continuous improvement of existing products through analytical review and engineering changes.
- Ensuring all design projects adhere to health and safety standards inherent in all processes.
- Collaboration with manufacturing teams to translate design concepts into practical manufacturing information.
- Management of engineering changes in compliance with company's change control procedures.
- Guidance and support to both internal teams and clients to optimise design and functionality.
- Training and development of junior staff and trainees as required.
Job Requirements:
- Significant understanding of Autodesk Inventor, Vault, and other design software relevant to 3D modelling and drafting.
- Experience in using CAD tools to create drawings for manufacture, with specific proficiency in sheet metal design.
- Adept at analysing manufacturing methods like CNC processes, surface treatments, and assembly principles.
- Excellent attention to detail with proven ability to work proactively to resolve issues and enhance design efficiency.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to manage time effectively and meet project deadlines.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and to provide training when necessary.
- Academic background in Mechanical Engineering (HNC or higher) is essential.
Desirable Skills:
- Knowledge of air conditioning and refrigeration system designs or related products.
- Experience with parametric design and understanding of advanced industrial production techniques.
