Job description
Our client, a prominent company within the marine sector, is seeking a dedicated and skilled Security & IT Manager to join their permanent team. This multifaceted role involves overseeing security, IT cyber security, and service management within the company's secure facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Security Controller:
- Maintenance of the company's secure facilities, including security policies, procedures, and records.
- Monitoring compliance with security policies and providing advice to staff at all levels.
- Encouraging a positive security culture and potentially setting up new secure facilities.
- Managing government audits of secure facilities and liaising with UK MOD and other government organisations.
- Monitoring and actioning security notices from various sources.
Personnel Security Controller:
- Conducting pre-employment screening checks (BPSS) and acting as a Vetting Sponsor.
- Managing clearances, aftercare of vetted staff, and security training for new and existing staff.
- Overseeing the security aspects of onboarding and offboarding processes.
- Developing security awareness campaigns and managing Industry Personnel Security Assurance (IPSA) audits.
IT Security Controller:
- Managing all aspects of cyber security and ensuring compliance with Secure by Design principles.
- Providing cyber security training and assessing the company's IT infrastructure against risk profiles.
- Obtaining Cyber Essentials Plus accreditation and monitoring security notices.
IT Manager:
- Overseeing day-to-day internal IT management and acting as the first point of contact for IT issues.
- Handling IT procurement, license management, and IT onboarding of new starters.
- Liaising with outsourced IT support providers when necessary.
Job Requirements:
Essential Skills:
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to absorb and apply large amounts of information.
- Keen attention to detail and the ability to multi-task effectively.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
Experience:
Experience in security management within a defence or government environment is highly desirable. This role is ideal for a Security Controller aiming to make a significant impact in a growing consultancy, or an experienced IT/Cyber Security Manager looking to broaden their responsibilities. Hands-on training and support will be provided, ensuring a smooth transition into the role, with an extensive handover period and ongoing guidance likely.
