Job description

This position is in the British Virgin Islands.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, repair, and maintain a wide range of marine electronic systems, including radar, sonar, GPS, and communication equipment
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electronic systems and networks to identify and rectify issues promptly
  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on electronic equipment
  • Handle wiring and cabling tasks, ensuring that all connections meet safety standards
  • Calibrate and fine-tune electronic equipment for optimal performance and accuracy
  • Maintain detailed records of all work performed, including equipment specifications and repairs
  • Ensure all work is conducted in compliance with industry regulations and safety standards
  • Interact with vessel owners and operators to understand their specific electronic equipment needs

Job Requirements:

  • Experience in a similar role in the marine industry, including working with brands such as B&G, Simrad, Raymarine, Garmin, and Maretron equipment
  • Strong knowledge of marine electronic systems and equipment, including radar, sonar, GPS, and communication devices
  • Familiarity with NMEA2000, SeatalkNG, ABYC, and NMEA standards
  • Technical school or certification in marine electronics preferred; ABYC and NMEA certifications a plus
  • Strong communication skills and proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals and diagrams
  • Exceptional problem-solving and diagnostic skills
  • Commitment to adhering to safety standards and regulations
  • Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Physical fitness and ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions
