Job summary
Our client, a leading company in the marine industry, is currently seeking a Document Controller to join their team on a contract basis. You will play a crucial role in managing and controlling all project documentation within a shipyard setting.

Job description
Job Purpose:
The Document Controller ensures the smooth operation of the shipyard by overseeing the entire document control process. This includes receiving, registering, distributing, revision control, and archiving of all project documents according to industry standards and company policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement document control procedures
- Establish a system for receiving, registering, classifying, and distributing documents
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and company policies for document control
- Develop and maintain a document management system (DMS) or effectively utilise existing systems
- Support in document revisions and approvals, including maintaining an audit trail
- Control access to documents by defining user access levels within the DMS
- Implement procedures to safeguard sensitive information
- Archive and retrieve documents according to company policies and regulatory requirements
- Liaise with various departments to ensure proper document flow and access
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date document registers, tracking all documents within the project
- Identify and implement improvements to document control processes
Job Requirements:
- Experience in document control, preferably in a shipyard or manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of document control principles and best practices
- Proficiency in document management systems (DMS) or similar software
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
Additional Skills (Beneficial):
- Knowledge of shipbuilding practices and terminology
- Experience with project management methodologies
- Understanding of relevant quality management standards (e.g., ISO 9001)
