Job summary
Our client, a prominent player in the oil and gas sector, is seeking a Principal HSE (Design) Engineer/Tech Safety Engineer to join their team on a contract basis.

Job description
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as Lead / Principal Design HSE engineer on projects and proposals
- Ensure technical quality and adherence to programme and cost targets
- Perform Design HSE tasks and supervise junior engineers as needed
- Assist the Chief Design HSE Engineer with resource planning
- Monitor and report design progress and man-hour usage
- Collaborate proactively with multi-disciplinary project delivery teams
- Ensure Design HSE integration into overall engineering design
- Support the Chief Design HSE Engineer in technical development of the function
- Provide Design HSE advice and support to colleagues and subordinates
Job Requirements:
- Degree in a process-related discipline
- Chartered Engineer and member of a relevant engineering institution (e.g., IChemE)
- Significant knowledge and experience in Design HSE / Technical Safety for the UK onshore market
- Background in engineering consultancy or contracting design
- Operational experience is advantageous
- Experience in the full project lifecycle: scoping, outline design, detailed design, construction support, commissioning, and handover
- Proficiency in applying relevant industry codes, standards, and guidelines
- Experience in technical safety engineering definitions including consequence analysis, risk assessments, and hazardous area classification
- Knowledge of PHAST, DSEAR/Hazardous area classification, risk assessments, Hazard Studies, LOPA / SIL assessment
- Good communication skills
- Experience with hydrogen is advantageous
