Job description

Our client, a respected entity in the T & D sector, is seeking a skilled CAD Technician on a contract basis. This role is pivotal in supporting various phases of planning, proposal preparation, site evaluations, analytical designs, and the preparation of construction documentation within a dynamic project team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead various civil project designs, including site design, land development, roads, storm drainage systems, and other infrastructure projects.
• Oversee drawing production, problem analysis, design layout, and calculations on complex assignments.
• Utilise standard techniques for drawing sequences, sizing system components, and refining sketches.
• Conduct quality reviews of designs or sketches, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project scopes.
• Present reports, maps, drawings, and other relevant data to plan and design projects effectively.
• Interpret design codes and specifications related to project requirements.
• Ensure design drawings are within defined scope, budget, and schedule constraints.
• Review volume calculations for excavation, dredging, and site grading tasks.
• Manage the organisation and maintenance of project drawings and related information.
• Mentor and develop junior staff members.
• Participate in marketing and client development meetings.
• Execute the civil design QA/QC process and comply with all policies and standards.

Job Requirements:

• Degree or HND in drafting technology or a related subject.
• Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and Excel.
• Advanced knowledge of design calculations and systems within the civil discipline.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multi-discipline project teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail.
