Job description
Primary Role Function
Delivery of Indirect Procurement strategy and capability, primarily in the category of MRO / Production Support. The MRO category team manages the outsourced solutions that deliver indirect supplies to operational areas across all BAE Systems UK business units. Key category areas within this scope include Production Consumables, Machine Spares, PPE, Gases, Cutting Tools, Hand & Power Tools, Lubricants, and chemicals.
Role Description
The Category Leader works as a member of an Indirect Procurement category team to provide procurement and supply chain capability through the delivery of the category strategy to meet the operational needs of business unit stakeholders.
Reporting to a Procurement Manager the role will be involved in growing the category procurement capability, working closely with Procurement Managers and Professionals across the organisation and Management to develop, communicate and deliver the strategy for the production support category.
The Category Leader will provide best practice capability and support the development of the category strategy to ensure that the IPS team are delivering procurement excellence of products and services to meet direct and indirect project or business objectives. There will be particular focus on managing contract delivery including innovative solutions to the category. This will include leading Group-wide RFPs where required
Job context
The Category Leader reports to a Procurement Manager and is a member of the category management procurement team and community within Indirect Procurement Services.
The role spans strategic, project leadership and operational delivery activities. There will be a need to work very closely and influence stakeholders from Directors to professionals across the procurement and supply chain community along with Shared Services and wider business stakeholders. Effective supplier management is absolutely critical.
