Job description


Our client, a dynamic contractor in the geotechnical engineering sector, is currently seeking an experienced Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join their team in Cambridge. Working out of the Cambridge office, you will take on a leading role within the geotechnical engineering division. The team is involved in ground investigation projects across East Anglia, the East Midlands, and beyond, providing specialist information for various sectors, including commercial and residential developments, healthcare, education, energy, infrastructure, highways, flood alleviation, and community projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading and managing geotechnical investigations, including specification, operation, and interpretation of data
  • Engaging in office-based tasks as well as client meetings, site supervision, and networking activities
  • Providing technical reports and foundation recommendations
  • Advising on suitable ground improvement and earthworks methods
  • Performing slope stability and settlement modelling
  • Contributing to contaminated land assessments
  • Tendering for projects and frameworks
  • Collaborating with the senior management team to support and drive the company's growth plans

Job Requirements:

  • Experience in geotechnical engineering, including geotechnical site investigation
  • Competency in contaminated land assessment
  • Chartered Geologist status or working towards chartership
  • Proficiency in geotechnical assessments, including foundation recommendations, ground improvement, and earthworks methods
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience as a line manager
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Relevant master's degree in a related subject
