Job description
Position: Environmental Advisor
Location: Various locations, with travel required
What You'll Do:
As an Environmental Advisor, you'll be an essential part of the SHEQ team, providing top-notch advice, assistance, and guidance on health, safety, and environmental management.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Enhance management systems and operational practices by advising operational and management teams
- Develop and review construction phase plans, environmental plans, and contractors' RAMS
- Offer expert advice on risk assessments, risk management, fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, machinery safeguarding, and occupational health
- Assist in the development of SHE management systems
- Liaise with external bodies like the Health and Safety Executive, clients, and other stakeholders
- Support incident management and investigation processes
- Create and deliver toolbox talks, team talks, and SHE training materials on health and safety issues
- Conduct site inspections and management audits to monitor trade contractors
- Act as a role model, embodying the company's construction visions, priorities, and values
What We're Looking For:
- Proven experience as a Safety Advisor in a construction environment (Utilities experience is a plus)
- Knowledge and experience in Temporary Works management
- Strong ability to influence at all levels and manage potential conflicts during site inspections
- Excellent presentation skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- NEBOSH General or Construction qualification
- NRSWA qualification and Utility SHEA Gas Passport are desirable
- Full driving license and willingness to travel
- Knowledge of SCO91 is a bonus
