Job description

The team oversees the maintenance of over 1000 structures, many with historic significance. This role offers a rich and varied workload, as these structures play a critical role in the local transport network, with many dating back to the 12th Century.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the preparation of designs for diverse bridge replacement, strengthening, and maintenance schemes.
• Collaborate closely with project managers, commercial, and construction teams to plan and execute these schemes within budget and timeframe.
• Line manage and mentor team members, ensuring work is conducted safely and efficiently.
• Engage in asset management activities including principal and special inspections, structural assessments, and sub-standard structure reviews.
• Provide technical support to various highway and transport schemes.
• Assist in the professional growth and development of trainee and graduate engineers.

Job Requirements:

• Substantial experience in highway structures inspection, maintenance, design, asset management, and construction.
• Collaborative experience with clients, contractors, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary design teams.
• Good working knowledge of Design Manual for Roads and Bridges, Specification for Highway Works, and Eurocodes related to highway structures.
• Proficient in structural analysis and design software such as LUSAS, TEDDS, RING, and AutoCAD.
• Relevant Degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
• Chartered Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers or an equivalent professional qualification.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and a team-oriented approach.
