Job Description :
Reporting to the Transport Coordination Manager, you'll lead a team of client transport planning information staff to deliver safe and suitable transport for more than 7000 residents with a rising number of increasing special needs. You and your team will work with bus, coach, minibus, taxi companies and specialist transport suppliers. You'll work with colleagues across the Council and with other local Councils as the lead on the client transport. You will manage the client transport activities with responsibility for a large spend in a challenging financial environment, and will work closely with the policy and budget leads in other directorates as well as finance officers. You will take the lead supporting your team in the delivery of the services, sometimes dealing with highly complex information. You will be expected to deal with the most complex cases and deal with the most challenging issues that may arise from your service decisions. You'll be educated to degree level and have demonstrable extensive experience of managing highly complex person-centred planning and delivery, ideally in a related field. As the Subject Matter Expert on client transport, you'll understand how transport needs to be arranged to ensure safe passage for the users. However, you'll also fully appreciate how shared transport solutions can positively impact travel habits and tackle the climate challenge in the 21st century. You will be used to dealing with high profile projects and service delivery with a customer-centred approach. You will be able to shape future policies as our lead professional on client transport delivery and networks. You'll understand how travel behaviours can be positively influenced through the use of shared transport. As the post holder, you'll be comfortable managing your own workload and be able to deliver on often competing demands. You'll be adept at ensuring all stakeholders involved in arrangements and project(s) meet their demands within the required parameters, and will be confident in presenting to Project Boards, Council Members at Cabinet Level and Scrutiny meetings.
