Job description

This permanent position involves the completion of mechanical assembly, machine build, inspectiOur client, a leader in the automotive manufacturing industry, is currently seeking a skilled Mechanical Fitter / Toolmaker to join their team in West Sussex. on, and associated documentation throughout the build, commissioning, and acceptance phases of powertrain, battery, and automotive assembly machinery.

Key Responsibilities:

• Planning and marking out for machine building
• Checking items for projects are present and correct prior to build
• Installation, termination, and connection of various electrical and mechanical machine components
• Working to specifications and best practices
• Testing and certification of machinery
• Liaising with stores, purchasing, site teams and project management to ensure timely manufacture of projects
• Performing site installations, including some work away from home
• Promoting a Health & Safety culture and maintaining a clean and tidy working environment
• Competent use of various plant machinery
• Assisting with loading/unloading of freight and palletising/shipping machines and components

Job Requirements:

• Experience in mechanical engineering, tooling, and mechanical assembly
• Ability to read and understand electrical and mechanical drawings
• Understanding of pneumatic circuits
• Minimum of GNVQ level 3 in a relevant field
• Background in automotive engineering preferred, but transferable skills considered
• Notably skilled in machine building
