Job description
Our client, a prominent player in the nuclear sector, is seeking a highly skilled CAD Design Engineer for a contract role. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the designs for the Facility Design Authority (FDA), ensuring compliance with legislative standards and engineering requirements throughout the facility lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Delivering designs that meet safety and performance requirements.
- Maintaining a comprehensive understanding of relevant legislative documentation and standards.
- Applying knowledge to ensure designs comply with legislation, standards, and requirements.
- Utilising CAD software (Autodesk Inventor) to generate and modify construction drawings and other digital images.
- Developing and preparing various layouts, drawings, and designs from specifications and sketches.
- Producing design options to assist in resolving undefined design concepts.
- Self-checking models and drawings for completeness, clarity, and accuracy.
- Maintaining and promoting high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security, and quality.
Job Requirements:
- Experience in delivering 3D and 2D CAD outputs on large engineering projects.
- Experience in producing designs as part of a multi-discipline design team.
- Ability to work on a nuclear licensed site.
- Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
- Strong mathematical skills and knowledge of mechanical engineering design standards.
- SC Clearance is essential.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience:
- HNC/HND in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Membership of an engineering institution.
- Experience working in a high-hazard or highly regulated industry.
- Knowledge of Building Information Modelling (BIM).
- Understanding of legislation and standards associated with nuclear and high-hazard facilities.
