Job description

Our client, a specialist in the marine sector, is currently seeking a Senior Drafter and Designer to join their team. This permanent role will involve detailed design drawings for steel vessels and structures, as well as technical ship design and drafting structural plans and details.

Key Responsibilities:

• Creating detailed design drawings for steel vessels and structures
• Drafting technical ship design and ship structures
• Developing structural plans and details
• Utilising resilience to develop capabilities and mentoring others to improve the knowledge within the engineering and technical communities
• Participating and encouraging increased internal collaboration across technical teams
• Engaging in external collaboration through technical presentations, customer meetings, and supporting business development strategies
• Ensuring safety by conducting work in a safe manner and highlighting hazards
• Applying consistent governance across technical programmes

Job Requirements:

• Experience in structural design and drafting within the marine sector
• Strong skills in developing detailed design drawings for steel vessels/structures
• Proficiency in technical ship design and drafting structural plans and details
• Understanding of internal and external collaboration to enhance project outcomes
• A keen desire to develop and grow technical skills and understanding
• Experience in data analysis and programming (e.g., Matlab, Python)
• Excellent communication skills, both written and presentational
• Strong organisation, team working, and attention to detail
