About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Freelance Mechanical Fitter to join our dynamic team in the water industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems and equipment used in water treatment and distribution facilities. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a variety of projects, contributing to the efficient operation of water infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain, and repair mechanical equipment, including pumps, valves, pipelines, and filtration systems.
  • Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety standards.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues, implementing effective solutions to minimise downtime.
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other team members to ensure project specifications and timelines are met.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations, maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Keep accurate records of work performed, including maintenance logs and reports.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter, preferably within the water industry or similar sectors.
  • Relevant technical qualifications and certifications (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering, City & Guilds).
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including pumps, valves, and pipelines.
  • Proficiency in reading technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to travel to various project sites as required.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with water treatment plants and equipment.
  • Certification in health and safety practices (e.g., CSCS card, IOSH).
  • Familiarity with industry regulations and standards.
