Job description


Our client, a prominent provider in the telecoms and rail communications industry, is currently seeking a Lead Telecoms Engineer (T&C) for a contract role. This position requires working on site in substations primarily located in the North West and Scotland, focusing on telecommunications systems used within the rail sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading teams of surveyors to conduct technical surveys and audits of telecommunication equipment and systems
  • Working with various telecommunications technologies including routers, GSM, fibre, copper, radio, transmitters, and modems
  • Ensuring all activities adhere to industry standards and safety regulations
  • Coordinating on-site activities and managing substation access
  • Providing technical guidance and support to team members
  • Travelling and staying away as necessary to cover required regions

Job Requirements:

  • Experience in radio frequency and telecommunications engineering
  • Proficiency in radio communications within the telecoms sector
  • Understanding of telecommunication systems and equipment, especially in a rail context
  • Previous experience working in substations or on DNO network sites
  • Substation access with relevant qualifications such as First Aid, CSCS, ECS, and EUSR
  • Ability to lead and manage a team of surveyors
  • Willingness to travel and stay away for project requirements

Contract Details:

  • Contract role - £400+
  • Working hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30 - 17:00
  • Location: North West and Scotland regions
