Our defence client is currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer with experience in complex enclosure design!

The Mechanical Engineer will collaborate with specialists from other engineering disciplines and provide mechanical design expertise to support business opportunities. This includes conducting feasibility studies, developing technology, creating concept designs for new products, and preparing bids and proposals.

Responsibilities:

• Generating concept design proposals and feasibility studies to support product development programs
• Carrying out elements of product design
• Contributing to the development of engineering excellence within the business
• Providing mechanical engineering expertise in support of future business opportunities

Experience needed:

• Ideally qualified to degree-level or equivalent experience in a Physics or Engineering based subject, such as; Electronics, Hardware, Computer Science, Software or Systems Engineering etc.
• Broad knowledge of all aspects of engineering, such as systems, electrical, electro-mechanical, and rotating machinery
• Experience in manufacturing methods applicable to electrical enclosures, such as metal fabrications, castings, welding, machining, and corrosion protection
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software, preferably Solidworks

Desirable:

• Experience in the Defence / Aerospace or safety regulated environment would be advantageous
• Experience in the Naval / Maritime domain would be advantageous.
• Good knowledge of materials
• Good knowledge of best practices in design lifecycle processes, such as gated design phases and design reviews
• Experience in designing to strict requirements such as shock, EMC and thermal
• Strong communication skills and confidence in presenting in front of customers
