12 Months Contract | £56.74ph UMB | Inside IR35
Security level
This role will require the person to obtain full Security Clearance (SC) You will need to obtain a BPSS check as part of this process. You must currently hold or be eligible and willing to obtain SC. In addition, this role involves direct and/or indirect access to Caveat Material which means there are restrictions on nationalities. Therefore, you must hold sole British Nationality to apply for this role. If you are unsure as to whether you are eligible, please contact me to discuss.
Please note, due to the nature of the work, you will not be able to start working until SC has been obtained
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and specify rotating machinery, including gearing, shafts, bearings, and couplings
- Develop fluid systems designs, focusing on compressible/incompressible fluid systems, thermodynamics, heat transfer, pumps, and control valves
- Create pressure vessel designs adhering to internationally recognised standards (e.g., ASME BPVC, PD 5500, EN 13445)
- Oversee the engineering lifecycle from concept design, detailed design, manufacture, test & commissioning to operation and disposal
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams
- Liaise with stakeholders to ensure effective project delivery and compliance with safety standards
- Prepare detailed technical reports and documentation
Job Requirements:
- Experience in mechanical engineering with a focus on propulsion systems
- Strong knowledge of rotating machinery and fluid systems design
- Proficiency in dealing with pressure vessel and piping design
- Familiarity with the full engineering lifecycle, from concept to disposal
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards professional accreditation is expected
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering is preferred
- SC level security clearance is required
