Our client, a long-standing leader in the aerospace sector, is on the lookout for a Lead Hardware Engineer to become part of their dynamic team in Luton. With a rich history of over 125 years, the division is well-renowned for protecting people, processes, and assets in the most challenging environments. This role presents an exciting opportunity to work within a unique and culturally diverse plant, contributing to the delivery of high-quality hardware solutions.
In this role you will work with a team of hardware engineers in the delivery of a mix of products ranging from low volume, high value rugged industrial workstations, to high volume intrisically safe isolators/barriers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Active participation in a culture of continuous improvement, refining and defining procedures and processes to ensure good quality product meeting cost and time-to-market objectives
- Responsible for capturing, specifying and managing design requirements
- Undertake and/or supervise verification and validation of new product designs to ensure that these requirements have been met
- Design and develop new products
- Apply expertise to the design of electronics products, advancing the capabilities of the department
- Support peer and formal design reviews, ensuring robust and productive processes
- Ensure adherence to Design to Cost, Design for Manufacture and Design for Test best practices
- Participate in the definition of product roadmaps
- Support concept/bid phase evaluation of projects with respect to task identification and estimation
- Provide technical support to Sales, Marketing, Operations and external customers when detailed product knowledge is required
Job Requirements:
- Relevant Engineering Degree such as Electronics
- Experience in high and low volume product development
- Experience in both analogue and digital electronic development for regulated markets requiring standards adherence and certification would be beneficial
Skills:
- Capable of independent working
- Six-Sigma background would be a plus
- Ability to write clear and unambiguous process and product documentation
