Job description
Our client, a leading organisation in the Defence & Security sector, is currently seeking a skilled and motivated Systems Design - Mission Planning & Control Principle Technical Specialist to join their enthusiastic and dynamic team. This is a permanent role, following a hybrid working model with typically 3-4 days per week on-site. Please note that security clearance is mandatory for this position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical expertise and input to various projects.
- Support both informal and formal peer reviews (Technical Excellence) and design reviews.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the domain, including associated standards, methods, and tools.
- Contribute to technical studies and provide input into proposals for technical development and risk reduction activities.
- Advise on technical decisions and investigations, recommending the best course of action to ensure success.
- Play a key role in the technical development of tools, methods, and processes, supporting and delivering functional improvement activities within the domain.
- Identify and address technical non-compliances within the domain, coordinating with programme teams to assess their impact and resolve them.
- Support the development of expertise within the Mission Planning & Control (MP&C) department and enhance your own technical knowledge.
- Build and maintain a network of expertise across the organisation, including MOD technical advisors.
- Communicate with and influence stakeholders across various national and international operations.
- Foster relationships with technical specialists and subject matter experts across various functions.
- Provide technical support to programme leads by appraising complex problems, identifying risks, and developing mitigation plans as necessary.
Job Requirements:
- Strong understanding of Model Based Systems Engineering, Systems Design, and Systems Engineering.
- Highly motivated and proactive, capable of working independently with minimal supervision as well as within larger teams or stakeholder groups.
- Comfortable operating in environments with a degree of uncertainty.
- Able to influence and work simultaneously with multiple stakeholder groups, including internal teams, the MOD, and external partners.
- Strong communication skills, able to work effectively in a collaborative environment spanning multiple teams and locations.
- Proven experience in problem-solving and a strong analytical mindset.
- Experienced practitioner within your technical domain, with a deep understanding of key specialist technologies and exploitation paths.
- Demonstrated ability to provide technical support on complex issues.
