Our client, a prominent organisation in the Defence and Security sector, is currently seeking a Senior Planning, Monitoring & Control Professional - to join their team within the Maritime and broader defence disciplines. This is a contract role, integral to supporting the project management lifecycle in a setting dedicated to the success of defence initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform intermediate project reporting and scheduling with precision.
  • Engage in intermediate problem-solving based on accumulated experience.
  • Utilise extensive knowledge of business processes and procedures for effective planning and execution.
  • Execute administrative tasks and general office duties, including spreadsheet management and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Participate actively in on-the-job training opportunities.
  • Lead Planning, Monitoring & Control (PM&C) processes on small, non-complex projects or specific work packages of larger projects.
  • Manage full lifecycle PM&C processes to ensure customer/user needs are met while achieving financial and other benefits over time.
  • Identify, assess, and manage risks to project success, applying appropriate PM&C methodologies whether predictive (plan-driven) or adaptive (iterative/agile).
  • Agree on PM&C approaches with stakeholders, prepare realistic plans, and track activities against project schedules, ensuring stakeholder involvement as necessary.
  • Consolidate expertise from various sources, including third-party experts, to provide coherent advice and support organisational objectives.
  • Support and promote the development and sharing of specialist knowledge within the organisation.

Job Requirements:

  • Significant experience in scheduling and planning
  • Proficiency in project management and control methodologies.
  • Excellent administrative and general office skills, particularly with spreadsheets and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to lead PM&C processes and manage project lifecycles effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage risks within projects.
  • University degree or substantial practical experience in a related field.
  • PM Qualification, such as the APM Project Management Qualification.
  • SC Clearance is required for this role.

Additional Information:

  • 37 hours over 5 days per week
  • 2-year contract
  • Full-time on site with flexibility when necessary
  • Working within a small, close-knit team
